The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between capacity building development and lecturers' effectiveness in Colleges of Education in Niger state Nigeria. This study adopted descriptive research design of the correlational type. The population of the study comprised 920 lecturers in public colleges of education in Niger state as at year 2024 of carrying out this study. The sample for the study was 555 lecturers selected from two Colleges of Education in Niger state. Multistage sampling procedures, sample random technique and proportionate random sampling technique were used to select the sample for the study. Two set of instruments tagged “Capacity Building Development Questionnaire (CBDQ) and Lecturers Effectiveness Questionnaire (LEQ). The instruments were validated by two experts in the field of test and measurement as well as Educational Management that ensured the face and content validity. The reliability coefficients of 0.78 were obtained for the CBDQ and 0.85 for LEQ. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, which is Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The hypothesis formulated was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of study revealed that the level of lecturers' job effectiveness was high in Colleges of Education in Niger State. Also, it was revealed that capacity building development made significance contribution to lecturers' effectiveness in Colleges of Education in Niger State. Based on these findings, the study recommends that the Colleges of Education authorities should sustain the current high level of lecturers' effectiveness through the use of appropriate managerial strategies such as capacity building development. Thus, this study examined human resource management practices (HRMPs) and lecturers' job performance in colleges of education, Kwara State, Nigeria. The research design adopted for this study was descriptive research of correlational type. The target population of this study consisted of all the 428 lecturers (including HODs) in the three Kwara State Government-owned colleges of education under the period of the study. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 260 respondents across the three colleges of education. The instruments titled “Human Resource Management Practices Questionnaire” (HRMPQ) and “Lectures' Job Performance Questionnaire” (LJPQ) were used to obtain the data for the study. The instruments were validated through contents and construct validities while reliability coefficients above 0.70 were obtained for the sub-variables of HRMPQ and LJPQ respectively. The descriptive statistic of Mean was used to analyse the research questions raised while inferential statistics of Pearson Product-moment Correlation was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. This study examined the relationship between participatory decision making and staff effectiveness in secondary schools, Ilorin west local government area of Kwara state, Nigeria. Specifically, the study assessed: (i) the relationship between participation in academic planning and staff effectiveness; (ii) the relationship between staff participation in co-curriculum planning and staff effectiveness and (iii) the relationship between staff participation in school administration and staff effectiveness. The study was a descriptive research design of correlation type, random sampling technique was used to select 50 private secondary schools and 10 staff were selected per school in Ilorin west local government. Purposive sampling technique was used to select administrative officers (Proprietors, Principals, Vice-Principals and Bursars). Questionnaire was used to collect data for the study, the instruments were validated by the experts and also tested for reliability. The reliability coefficients realised for PDQ and SEQ were 0.82 and 0.76 respectively. Main and operational hypotheses were tested using Pearson product-moment correlation statistics respectively at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that there was a significant relationship between staff participation in decision making and staff effectiveness (p?0.05). The study concluded that participatory decision making plays significant role in enhancing staff effectiveness which would consequently facilitate realisation of educational goals of the secondary schools in Ilorin-west local government, Kwara state, Nigeria. The finding observed that staff of Private schools in Ilorin west local government in Kwara state are allowed to involve in academic decision making in their respective offices, their official duties were performed at the right time and this lead to effective job performance. It could also be stated that, job effectiveness of the personnel who are allowed to participate in decision making is likely to be more effective than that of their colleagues who are not allowed. The population for the study comprised 157 secondary schools and all science teachers and students in Ilorin metropolis public secondary schools.200 teachers were randomly selected for the study Hence a structural questionnaire which contained about Twenty (20) questions relating to influence of motivation on the academic performance of science students was prepared and administered to 180of the 3 senatorial districts of Kwara state. The statistical tool used to analyse the data of 180 copies of the returned questionnaire was descriptive statistics using table and percentage (%). In addition to confirm the validity of the responses of the respondents, chi-square method was also employed to test six of the questions on the questionnaire distributed to the respondents. As a result, the response of the finding showed that: motivation of science teacher can translate into an improved academic performance of science students in secondary schools, prompt payment of salaries, provision science instructional materials, payment of funds benefits and conducive working environment all were discovered to enhance the teacher job performance and this improve student academic performance of science student in Ilorin metropolis secondary schools. It was concluded from this study that teacher motivation is a sin - squad-non to an improved academic performance. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyze AI's impact on HRM functions and employee well-being. The quantitative phase utilizes structured surveys to measure variables such as recruitment efficiency, performance evaluation, and employee engagement, while the qualitative phase includes interviews with HR professionals and employees to capture their experiences and perceptions. A sample of approximately 300 participants will be surveyed, with 20 individuals selected for in-depth interviews. Findings indicate significant improvements in HRM processes due to AI integration, alongside heightened employee anxiety regarding job security and privacy concerns. Notably, counselling support emerged as a crucial factor in enhancing employee resilience, demonstrating its effectiveness in helping individuals navigate AI-driven changes. The study underscores the need for organizations to implement transparent AI practices and robust counselling programs that address the psychological challenges posed by AI. Ultimately, this research contributes to the understanding of how AI can be leveraged positively in HRM while ensuring employee mental health and ethical considerations remain a priority. E-learning is the use of information and communication to enhance and facilitate teaching and learning. The main focus of this study was to investigate secondary school students' perceived e-learning readiness in Kwara State. Specifically, the study determined the students' accessibility to e- learning materials; perceived e-learning skills possessed by secondary school students; and gender influence on secondary school students' e-learning readiness. The research design was a descriptive type using the survey method. Sample comprised 100 secondary school students in Kwara State using random sampling for the collection of data. The instrument was a researcher designed questionnaire which was subjected to descriptive statistical analysis (percentage, frequency and mean) and used to answer the research questions with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS 26.0).The findings of the study revealed that secondary school students in Kwara State are; computer literate, as 55% of the respondents have access to computer and 89% have access to Internet services on their mobile phone; highly proficient in e learning skill as 94% of the respondents can do a lot of operations with e-learning materials; the results show a positive impact, with both male and female respondents reporting favorable outcomes. The mean scores from respondents were 17.37 and 18.41, respectively, indicating a slightly higher positive impact among female respondents. The population of the study was 1596 made up of 1146 Students and 450 NOUN Facilitators. All 1596 respondents were purposively taken as sample size because they were enrolled as NOUN Students and Facilitators in a course during the end of the second semester of 2022. To guide the study, four research questions were raised, while two hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. Data collection was facilitated with the aid of a questionnaire titled: “Staff and Students' Expectations and Experiences of Online Facilitation Questionnaire (SSEEOFQ) (r=0.918, r=0.746 respectively). Findings revealed that NOUN Students have a better understanding of online facilitation and are comfortable with online facilitation. Additionally, findings show that there exist positive expectations and experiences among NOUN students and facilitators. The findings further revealed that there was a strong, positive, and statistically significant relationship between NOUN Students' job status and their online facilitation experiences. It was also found that some NOUN students do not wish to attend online facilitation, despite their positive perception of the process. The researcher raised two research questions the population of the study consist of 22 private secondary schools and 229 public secondary schools in Plateau State. A sample of 275 was selected which consisted of geography students and teachers. A proportional stratified sampling technique was used to select the secondary schools. Descriptive survey research design was used, checklist and questionnaire constituted the instruments of the study. The validity of the instrument was determined by expert. The reliability of the checklist, questionnaire and students record were ascertained using cronbach Alpha, which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.69. Percentage and t-test were used for the analysis. The result showed that there was an inadequate resource material for the teaching and learning of geography in secondary schools. The result indicated that the available resource materials were below 50 per cent of the recommended Geography resource materials. The academic achievement of students in Geography is average. The study concluded that the inadequate and average academic achievement of students in Geography could lead to difficulty in providing conducive learning environment and ineffectiveness of teaching and learning Geography. A set of questionnaire seeking for teachers' responses in relation to stated objectives was designed, Validated by experts and pilot tested, the reliability was tested through the use of Cronbach's Alpha in SPSS. The reliability index were at 0.89 and 0.97 respectively. The Data collected was analyzed using simple frequencies and percentages and Hypothesis were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient at 0.05 significance level. The study used qualitative approach to elicit necessary information from the respondents. Purposive sampling technique was used to select five teachers from five states (Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa) that comprised North-Central Region. The rationale for using purposive sampling is to helps in selecting a sample that is particularly knowledgeable or experienced in the area of interest. The information gather for this study were analyzed using thematic method which revealed five main themes (kidnapping, ransom payment, incessant killing, arson and fear of attack). The findings of the study revealed that insecurity has affected the academic performance of senior Public Secondary Schools in North-Central, Nigeria. The finding further showed that parents have continuously withdrawn their children from insecurity school to neighboring schools that have peace. The population for the study consisted of all undergraduate students in the faculty of Education in the selected university. The target population consisted of the 400-level undergraduates students in the selected Departments. A sample of 280 undergraduates were deliberately selected using non-probability sampling technique across four Departments in faculty of Education, University of Ilorin. A self constructed questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the instrument was carried out using the Cronbach alpha with 0.80 reliability value. Percentage, mean, ANOVA, and t-test statistics were employed for the analysis of the information obtained from the respondents at a 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed among others that unmarried undergraduates sees coupledom and cohabitation as a common thing to be practiced which was described as deviation and disregard to social and cultural order in this study. The consequences that were rated high among unmarried undergraduates were the compromise on religious and ethical beliefs of the unmarried couple. A significant difference exists in the perceived reasons for and consequences of coupledom and cohabitation among undergraduates based on Departments. .However, no significant difference existed in the perceived reasons for and consequences of coupledom and cohabitation among unmarried undergraduates based on age and gender. The study attributed the outcome of this study to parents and religious institutions indifference to child upbringing. However, academic performance of students in the colleges of education in Kwara State has been declining over the years. This study therefore investigates proficiency in ICT tools (projector, public address system, interactive white board) and academic performance of students in colleges of education in Kwara State. Three research questions and four research hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted descriptive research design. Two set of instruments were used for this study. Crumbach alpha was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument with reliability coefficient of 0.83 The population of this study comprised all the 488 academic staff in the three government owned colleges of Education in Kwara State Proportional sampling technique was used to select 151 out of 207 academic staff from Kwara State college of Education, Ilorin, 106 out of 128 from Kwara State college of Education Technical, Lafiagi, and 107 out of 143 from Kwara State College of Education, Oro respectively. This gave a sample size of 364. The research questions raised for the study were answered using percentage while the research hypotheses formulated were tested using Pearson product moment correlation statistic at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study include that ICT tools in colleges of education in Kwara State are often utilized; that level of students' academic performance in colleges of education in Kwara state is high; that there is significant relationship between utilization of ICT (projector, public address system, interactive white boards) and students' academic performance in colleges of education in Kwara State. it was concluded that ICT is a necessity for any college of education to achieve its goals among which is high students' academic performance. The study therefore recommends that adequate training should be organized regularly to aid their technical know-how of the tools and that Projector needs constant electricity supply in order to be used effectiveness. OJO, ojo.oj@unilorin.edu.ng <p>The counselling needs of out-of-schoolchildren (OOSC) in Northeast Nigeria are diverse and complex, reflecting the region's unique challenges some of which include psychological and psychosocial support, career development, vocational training and guidance, educational counselling and health and well-being. The educational system in this region is aback as compared to other regions especially in the south due to high rate of poverty, culture, insurgency and terrorism and child labour which has marginally forced millions of students out of school. This paper aimed at investigating the counselling needs of the OOSC with the purpose of instigating counsellors and other educational stakeholders into actions to assist the OOSC in living a better life. By addressing these needs through a comprehensive and context-specific approach, the counselling services can significantly improve the lives of out-of-school children in Northeast Nigeria, providing them with the support they need to thrive despite the challenges they face.</p> 2025-04-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025
